Arched Foot Bridges

Recently numerous footbridges have been added as part of the park system in the Pennridge area near new developments where pedestrian safety is a concern on roadways. Several examples of these arch bridges or similar designs are shown below.

South Perkasie (near Walnut Street) - Perkasie, PA

Stream: Pleasant Spring Creek

A footbridge over Pleasant Spring Creek (near Benfield Mill) will eventually be part of the bike trail.   Triangular truss supports add strength to the bridge.

Orchard Road (near Diamond Street) - Hilltown, PA

This arch bridge crosses a much shorter span than the bridge above.   When walking across the bridge it appears almost flat.

Note the beams that are placed under the arched structure.   Triangulation adds additional strength to this bridge.

Callowhill Road - Perkasie, PA

Stream: East Branch of the Perkiomen Creek

This bridge located just off Callowhill Road is part of the Perkasie bike trail.   Bike riders are asked to walk their bikes over this bridge.
