Pleasant Spring Creek - Beam Bridge

Location: Constitution Avenue (near Walnut Street) - Perkasie, PA

Stream: Pleasant Spring Creek

Year: Built 1915; Rebuilt in 1999

This relatively new bridge was designed to look like the older stone bridge it replaced. The bridge is made of metal and reinforced concrete.   The bridge project also widened the roadway so that two vehicles could easily pass over the bridge.

A simulated stone surface is created out of colored cement.   Wing walls provide support for the bridge and control the path of the water.

Metal beams are riveted together under the roadbed.   The long beams are bolted into the side cement supports on each end of the bridge.
