This bridge is named after the designer of the American flag - Betsy Ross. It connects to the expressways on both sides of the river, I-95 on the Pennsylvania side, and the New Jersey Route 90 freeway. The bridge has a mid-clearance span of 135 feet.

     
This bridge uses 29,326 tons of steel in the bridge and approaches.  Today there are six traffic lanes on the Betsy Ross Bridge.   The steel through-truss bridge features a main span and two side spans. On either side of the through truss spans are 10 smaller deck truss spans (five on each side), and a total of 41 deck-girder spans.
     
The total length of the bridge and approaches is 8,485 ' or approximately 1.6 miles in length. Part of the New Jersey approach is seen above.   This is a view of the deck-girder span from below.
