South Perkasie Bridge
Location: Lenape Park - Perksie, PA
Stream: once over Pleasant Spring Creek, now over dry land
Year: Built 1832; Moved in 1958
Length: 79 feet; Width: 15 feet
This covered bridge is very unusual because it sits on dry land, preserved by the Perkasie Historical Society. | This bridge was moved from South Perkasie.
The truss style is the Town-truss, sometimes called the lattice truss. There are 17 Town-truss bridges in Pennsylvania. | Crossing beams and the ends of the trusses are connected by wooden pins.
Roof beams are also pegged together by wooden pins. | The criss-cross pattern is also found under the roadbed. |
