Uhlertown - Frenchtown Bridge

Historical Photos related to the 1903 flood

The original structure was a Towne type lattice truss. The masonry substructure of the original bridge - 5 piers and 2 abutments are still standing and support the bridge today.
In 1903 a flood carried away the two spans nearest to the New Jersey shore.
Ferry as seen in December 1903.
Two spans were replaced with steel through truss spans which were built in 1905. Note the original wooden covered bridge structure in the left of the photo.
