To learn about the past
we use artifacts, documents, and other information left behind
by other generations. Important clues about the history of our
area can be found in all kinds of places. An unusual place that
has a great amount of information about our ancestors is the local
graveyard. These sites include not only names and dates, but show
family groupings, provide statements about the individual, and
other clues to our heritage. One local graveyard at Blooming Glen
Mennonite Church was visited to obtain information about our ancestors.
This graveyard is not filled with fancy gravestones as the Mennonite
tradition was not one of fancy designs, but it still tells us
much about these people.
