A self propelled combine is used
for harvesting all grain including small grains, corn, soybeans, wheat,
etc. |
The combine works by taking the
whole stock in the front of the machine where the large fingers rake the
crop into the machine. |
The combine has its own power unit. Note
the huge wheel and axel that is part of this power unit. |
Chain gears help to power this
part of the equipment. |
A large auger helps to pull
the corn stalks into the combine. |
Inside the combine the grain is
separated from the residue (from the cob and stalk). Here the residue
is thrown out of the combine and back onto the field. |
Here is what the corn field
looks like after the combine has harvested the corn. |
When the huge bin in the combine
is filled with corn kernels, they are loaded onto a waiting truck. |
