WASTEWATER PRE-TREATMENT

Pretreatment is any process which reduces, eliminates, or alters the nature of pollutants in wastewater to make it compatible with the collection system and treatment processes .

As the first step in the process, large pieces of debris are removed with a "grinder".

Materials and the water pass through bar screens which trap sticks, leaves, rags, and other floating material. The wastewater then enters a grit chamber. In the grit chamber the motion and speed of air into the system allow grit, such as sand to settle to the bottom while other organic material remains suspended. Collection grit is transported to an approved landfill.

GENERAL PLANT OPERATION

The entire operation at the wastewater treatment plant is controlled by a series of control panels    Pumps are used to keep the wastewater operation moving.    The other pumps are used to process the sludge.
