GREENHOUSES

Local businesses related to gardening can be found throughout the Pennridge region. Nace Greenhouses and Clair's Flower Shop grow their own flowers in Perkasie today.

 

Nace Greenhouses Inc. is located at 108 Walnut Street near the Walnut Street Bridge. This business began in 1905 by Oliver and S. Linford Nace. In 1912 the first greenhouse was built. Today there are nine greenhouses or 68,000 square feet of space.

This business is a wholesale potted plant operation.The business specializes in growing poinsettias, and geraniums. Owners are Robert D. Nace and Robert S. Nace in 2000.

Clair's Flower Shop located at 308 Callowhill Street has been a local company since 1929. Clair's 10,000 square foot greenhouse is used to grow snap dragons, chrysanthemums (above), calla lilies (below), daffodils, flowers for hanging baskets, as well as other varieties of flowers. Today this business is operated by the Barndts.

INDIVIDUAL GARDENERS

Presently, individual gardens are the most common form of agriculture in Perkasie. Family gardens may include flowers, vegetables, and fruit. Most Perkasie residents farm as a hobby and to relax.

Perkasie Borough Community Gardens located next to the Miriam Wood Brown community allow residents to rent a garden plot. Tilling of the soil and water are provided as part of the rental.

GARDEN CLUB

The Perkasie Garden Club annually provides plantings in the local parks and places large planters of flowers throughout the Perkasie community.
