The above increases reflected the increase in receipts and business of the office due to population growth which was brought about by new home construction.
Steven Gale the current postmaster says that a postmaster manages the office, controls the number of hours, makes sure there are enough people to deliver the mail, and are required to deliver the mail every day even if it means that the postmaster must deliver the mail. So the job requires that you have to be a jack of all trades.
Mr. Stephen Gale described working in the Postal Office as being hectic some days, and without anything at all other days. On some of the most hectic days he has to personally deliver some mail. A good part of his job is that he meets many interesting people. He has been in the Postal Office for over 20 years, but he used to be a teacher. Mr. Gale said that automation is the largest change that has taken place lately. He moved up the postal chain all the way from deliverer person. He expects that soon in the future the Internet may be utilized to deliver mail.
