EFFECTS OF THE PUMP ON OUR WATER & ENVIRONMENT

The North Penn Water Authority building

The need for the pump has been disputed by many people.

The people that the pump affects say that the pump ruins the environment and that they don't want to use it because of that.

The pump is owned by the North Penn Water Authority.

The drinking water that the pump produces meets the State and Federal Safe Drinking Water Act standards. The NPWA uses an ultraviolet water treating system to kill the bacteria. According to Tracy Carluccio from Delaware Riverkeeper Network, the bacteria is still a problem. The pump has also introduced new bacteria into creeks where the pump transports the water.

The reports of water quality in Montgomery County are available at the North Penn Water Authority web site. The Delaware River Basin Commission located in West Trenton, NJ. has extensive information available about water quality in Pennsylvania and New Jersey surrounding the Delaware River.
