Sow bugs have a segmented body that looks like "armor". They have a flat body with seven legs. They live for about two years. They are found in moist locations like under rocks and other objects. Sow bugs eat decaying vegetable matter. Females give birth to 24 to 28 young per brood and have 1 to 3 generations per year.
