This picture is a prime example of Baum's impressionistic painting style. The close up shows the technique, Baum used, of layering on paint to create a surprisingly detailed picture.

Walter Emerson Baum was one of Bucks County's most famous Impressionists. His favorite subject matter for his paintings were the places and sites surrounding West Rockhill Township, PA. He focused his painting mostly on landscapes.
