Twin Churches of Ridge Valley

Ridge Valley has several churches. Two of these churches serve as historical landmarks, leading people to sometimes call Ridge Valley "The Valley of the Twin Churches." These two churches are across the street from each other.

This is one of the twin churches. It is called St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church. Here is Mrs. Barnes class on the field trip. This picture shows the beautiful stained glass windows at the front of the St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church.

This is one of the Twin Churches. This one is the Ridge Valley United Church of Christ.  Here is an older picture of the Ridge Valley United Church of Christ. Can you see how much it has changed from the picture above? Note the difference in height of the two buildings. The spire on the current church is no longer in the center above the main entrance.

Today residents of Ridge Valley attend churches in other locations and individuals from other area towns come to church in Ridge Valley. This is facilitated by the automobile. When horse drawn vehicles were the major form of transportation, generally individuals attended church in their own communities.
