DISTRICT COURT BUILDINGS

Present District Court Building

703 W. Market Street

Built in 1998

The present District Court Building is an example of post-modern architecture. The corner roof makes it look so unique; this roof repeats the many turrets found in Perkasie's Victorian period residential architecture.

The structure also emphasizes the intersection. The side walk comes right up to the building itself like many of the other older buildings and houses in Perkasie.

Old District Court Building

Bucks County District Court used to be located at 109 South Sixth Street in Perkasie. During that time the Pierce Free Library was also located in this building, the former Fraternity Temple Building. When the District Court left the Sixth Street location it was moved to Main Street in Sellersville until the new building opened.

The Sixth Street building was built by 16 fraternal organizations that also held their meetings at this location. The old postcards below refer to the Fraternity Temple as the Perkasie Legion Building.

Before this building became the District Court Building it was the Perkasie Legion Club. This is a picture of the main dining room when it was the Legion Club. This shows the influence of streamlined modern influences.    This is a picture of the main entrance of the Perkasie Legion club (built in 1922) before it was the District Court Building. The entrance features an elliptical fan light above the twin doors.

This is a picture of what the Old District Court Building looks like today. This Olde Towne Manor provides economic housing for older citizens.

This is the rear entrance. A new elevator was added.

Here is work being done on the facade of the building in 2000.
