 MEDALLIONS

Medallions are special markers placed at graves to recognize service to the community or nation. This service may have been proved through military service, working as a fireman(seen at left and below), or being involved in a community service organization.

A variety of medallions are found on the graves at Trinity Lutheran Cemetery in Perkasie. These medallions (and in some cases attached flags) are supplied and maintained by the community and veterans organizations.

Medallion for service in the Spanish-American War from 1893-1902 for the Army and Navy   Medallion for service in World War I from 1917 to 1920,

Medallion for service in World War II from 1941 to 1945.   Medallion for service in the North's army, the G.A.R. (Grand Army of the Republic) 1861 - 1865.

There are some plaques and other markers in the cemetery that present information similar to that found on the medallions. Two examples are found below.
