Pennridge Airport- Past

Pennridge Airport, is located on Route 563 between Route 309 and 313, just north of Bucks County boroughs of Perkasie and Sellersville in East Rockhill Township.. Before 1968, the Pennridge Airport was very small and almost unknown outside of the area. When the Bryants started managing that year, it became more productive.

The Bryants had a very basic runway, a parking lot, taxi place, and a small office area. At that time the Pennridge Airport offered pilot training, charter flights, air taxi, service, and maintenance.

Airplanes were available for sale ranging from single-engine Cessna 152 to the twin Cessna Skymaster; these airplanes were both new and used. The airport had a main building, paved aprons & runways, and included 73 acres of land. They also stocked pilot supplies, and manuals.

In the early 1980's, Mr. Deutsch bought the airport. He made many renovations, such as building a big hanger and a larger office. Also making a new and larger runway. Mr. Deutsch also got a better navigation system for the airplanes. In the late 1980's there was a landing fee of $5-$6. People using the airport used to call the airport for a taxi to come to their house, pick them up, and drive them to the airport. There have only been a couple minor accidents at Pennridge Airport, i.e. tires blowing out on the runway, but nothing where someone has been killed. Even with being located so close to schools, such as Deibler Elementary and the Pennridge High School, there have never really been any major problems. A plane did recently land on a Pennridge Upper High School athletic field when it had engine trouble. In the handbook that the airport distributes to the pilots, however, it says to watch out for the high school. They can't fly too low since there are a lot of people outside in the school area.
