Perkasie was originally a farm community. The closest
town to Perkasie at that time was the town of Hagersville. When
a railroad was built through Perkasie a building which became
a train station was built as well as a railroad express office,
and general store. When people started stopping at Perkasie from
the trains, some of them started to build houses.

1892- Menlo Park opened with a carousel and
pavilions. Bumper cars, water slide, whip, land toboggan, a bowling
alley, and a snack shop were also added to the park. People came
to Menlo Park from Philadelphia and Bethlehem by train and trolley.
Eventually the park fell into disrepair. The water slide fell
over, the toboggan eventually rotted, the dance hall burned in
1947 and other rides were later sold off. Only the carousel and
pool remain in the park today.
