DELBAR PRODUCTS - Largest Manufacturer Today
Delbar Products is the largest manufacturing employer in Perkasie in 1999 and is located at 7th & Spruce Streets. Delbar has been in the business since 1947 and in the year 1999 had 115 workers. Delbar began with 32 employees and 16,000 square feet. Several expansions have occurred to the Perkasie plant over the years (1957, 1967, 1969). In 1972 a warehouse was built in Telford; this facility was expanded in 1974. |
Delbar has supplied firms such as Ford, GM, Chrysler, Mack, White, and Toyota. Delbar has also supplied major retail chains including Sears, J.C. Penney, and automotive wholesalers in the United States.
NEW BUSINESS SHOPPING CENTERS
Businesses have expanded and many have located away from the original manufacturing areas of Perkasie (such as the railroad line in the Olde Towne section of Perkasie radiating out from 7th and Market Streets).
VILLAGE SQUARE OF GLENWOOD
The first modern shopping center called Glenwood Shopping Center was built in the 1970 on the border of Perkasie Borough and East Rockhill Township (near Pennridge High School). A new shopping center on Constitution Avenue was added in 199 _. Perkasie Square is a major shopping center in Perkasie today. It was one of the last empty lots in Perkasie to be developed. Businesses located at Perkasie Square in 2000 are listed below.

In May of 2000 part of the macadam parking area was ripped up to begin the building process for a MacDonalds restaurant; this will be the first fast food restaurant in Perkasie.
