In order to improve the town, Perkasie commissioned a market analysis by the Delta Development Group, Inc in association with Rettew Associates, Inc. Their report was completed in April 1999. Many recommendations have been made with this plan to the Borough of Perkasie. Numerous suggestions are being acted upon. Some items were in progress before the posting of this web site. Several of these improvements are listed below while others appear on other separate pages of this Town Planning section of this web site.

LAND USE and ZONING

• Recapture commercially and industrially-zoned land for its intended use.
• Participate actively in discussion within the Pennridge area regarding selective joint land use planning and related infrastructure development.
• Preserve any vacant or underutilized sites for commercial and industrial development including:
  • Empty lot (Seventh & Market Streets)
  • Perkasie Borough Authority building (Fifth and West Callowhill Streets)
  • First Union Bank Building (Seventh and West Chestnut streets)
  • Shelly's Store (Seventh & Market Streets)
  • Re-evaluate home occupation standards (home businesses)

PARKING STRATEGY

• Complete a physical inventory of the downtown's parking resources.
• Survey parking space use.
• Evaluate local parking policies and regulations.
• Identify parking concerns and prepare a parking management strategy.

Walnut Street between Fifth & Sixth Streets.

Since parking is so crowded, there is a need for increased parking in the Olde Towne area of Perkasie Borough. Many individuals find it difficult to use businesses in Perkasie due to the parking situation. Perkasie is planning on making 60 parking spaces in two parking lots in the downtown area.
