RECREATIONAL IMPROVEMENTS

Perkasie has often received many suggestions for improvements of the recreational facilities available to residents. Perkasie has many parks and trails, and with that comes suggestions for improvements.

1) Extend and designate an "urban" trail from Lenape Park and then cross the trail along the Perkiomen Creek and along the old trolley right-of-way on Walnut Street to Ridge Road. This project's significance is tied to the multi-county initiative to construct the Liberty Bell Trail starting in Norristown, Montgomery County and ending in Quakertown, Bucks County (commerating the Liberty Bell Trail, the route the Liberty Bell was taken from Philadelphia to safety during the Revolutionary War)

2) Construction of a mini park or community plaza next to the archway at the end of Walnut Street. This park may include a drinking fountain, benches, trees, plants, trail markers, trail maps, directions to other places, bike racks, etc.

3) Extend the local trail network. This would extend eastward out of the Borough towards the Nockamixon State Park. This would use as much of the existing trails in the Pennridge area as possible.

4) Link Pleasant Spring Path to the Borough of Silverdale and Hilltown Township.

5) Develop clear attractive and uniform directional signage for the trails and parks in the Borough of Perkasie.
