POINT PLEASANT AQUEDUCT

WOODEN ARCH STRUCTURE

Here is a drainage pipe at one of the abutments during construction.   This three arch bridge uses interlocking wooden joints which are pinned together using bolts.

The center of the arch is strengthened by trusses (diagonal wooden members).   The arches of the aqueduct are also bolted into the trusses.

Here is a detail of the aqueduct looking from below the deck.   Arch supports can also be seen on the inside of the aqueduct.
