Here is a view of the aqueduct
during construction. Note the people in the center to help gage the size
of the structure. |
Inside diagonal wooden walls were
put in place and then covered with a rubber liner. The rubber liner was
again covered with wood to protect its surface. |
The top of the liner was covered
with the cap for the aqueduct side. |
A small roof covers each arch section
of the aqueduct providing protection from the weather. |
Sides of the aqueduct are also
faced with wood and are painted in the traditional red paint used throughout
the Pennsylvania Delaware Canal. |
Here is a view of the canal aqueduct
from River Road after the liner and side walls were completed. |

On the Delaware River side of the aquaduct,
a walkway is cantilevered out from the main bridge structure. |

Here is the walkway in use by two bikers. |
